I was paid a yearly call...

...by a magazine crew this morning. I explained that I no longer take magazines and newspapers because the Internet has killed them. The kid allowed as how it really wasn't about the magazine, it was about helping people out. I told him that he was in luck, he had a paternalistic government to help him out now that his product was a thing of the past. He will no doubt be hired to rebuild the infrastructure, though he did not look capable of actual work. I wished him good luck and advised him that there were lots of nice elderly folks in the neighborhood to prey upon. The kid trundled off mumbling something vaguely religious sounding about having a great life or day or something.
I wonder when the young women will be around with my yearly Watchtower...and the guy from Arkansas with those oranges and grapefruit...
I see by the TV news that Obama is not going to pursue saving newspapers. this will no doubt disappoint Nancy, but does show that Obama is probably a better judge of what can be saved than Nancy. My surmise is that this is all good.
I see the local option sales tax passed in Iowa City. My very best advise to out of towners coming in for athletic events is to pack your own lunch. Please see a previous blog about why I shop in Muscatine.
