A saturday drive about town...

*If you happen upon a picture in these pages where you live, work or play, do not be offended. There are an enormous numbers of of ridiculasly huge, five bathroom, four deck, ostentagious front porticoed, equity traps in Iowa City. I could not live in one of these with a strait face. The people who do seem clueless as to why us butt scractin nose pickin folk laugh at the sheer audacity of living in one of those strange things. They are more like attention seeking devices of the well off and are ment to say, "I live here and You do not". After all, nobody needs to clean 3 or 4 bathrooms.

Oldest tavern in town, and looks it
In summer the vines help hide this
Useful areas
Old Brick
Oldest building in town, it was a hotel
Shades of the 60's
I have been fascinated by this house for years. Looks like it should be surrounded by dozens of others just like it in a city somewhere
Old country club
Neat old porch
Small and useful
VA hospital, tallest building in town
Great fire escape
They can't buy a Rose Bowl but the press box is huge
File cabinets for human type people
Guess they will have to close it after that collape last week
cooling towers
Empty stadiums bring you down. You can see the Gothic tower that was buried years ago
Like Barracks
Yesterday's opulence
A place to be, a mailing address
Rail bridge
Frightful and depressing
useful stuff
Probably the ugliest dorm in the midwest, I lived here
Only the front is made to be pretty in midwestern towns
sitting on top of the world, sort of
End trip at the E I E I O bridge
