I guess I am resigned to living out what years I have left with (choke) Hillary Clinton as My President. I wish that this were not so. The Republicans just do not seem capable of conjuring up somebody who might give it a run for the money. I'm no longer one of them anyway so I don't much
give a damn if they come forth with a viable candidate.
No, I really believe that a new political entity must develop to challenge the tired old Democrats and their decidedly socialistic tendencies. For a while there it looked as though the Tea Party might have been that answer, but whenever a third or forth choice begins to look like it might make the cut, Democrats and Republicans team up gang style to marginalize them so as to protect a two party system.
Too often the Democrats come up with their "Pie in the Sky" socialist schemes, only to find they are badly formed and will not work without doing damage to the economy or to the human soul. Too often the Republicans, having a better understanding of the way things work, ride to the rescue and show the Idiot Child Democrats how to make it work. The Republicans do sometimes manage to get concessions and somehow manage to strike some of the more onerous pieces of the sky pie. This process is called compromise. Bottom line, the Republicans enable the Democrats.
Where this all leaves us over the years and decades...is a slow and inevitable creep toward a more controlled and pinched society with a ever smaller middle class that might share in the richness of being free men. This also means a ever larger class of "cargo cultists" that depend on the Government for everything, afraid of losing these small entitlements and afraid to take their place among the middle class of free men and true opportunity. They are kept down and milked like cows for votes and given more entitlement crumbs to keep them quiet and await Uncle Sam's fleet of white ships to appear on the horizon with free cargo. What sort of pitiful, horrid and mind numbing existence is this? The beggars on the street (there are more and more) are a least free . Meanwhile, the rich get richer and the poor get entitlements. This is also called Oligarchy...or Government by the few.
As for Me...it's a race to see if tired old Me can outlive tired old Hillary Clinton. She is a woman and likely to win this race. Yes I'm resigned to expire with tired old Hillary Clinton as My President...ugh.

Tom Harkin says something I can agree with after all these years, the retiring and maybe one of the oldest Junior Senators in the history of the Senate says, "We had the power to do it in a way that would have simplified healthcare, made it more efficient and made it less costly and we didn’t do it, So I look back and say we should have either done it the correct way or not done anything at all." As far as I am concerned this puts them in the same class as the Afghan Taliban out blowing up giant Buddha statues. I hopes they chokes  Why is it that the cops are even being asked to be the cigarette police? Why are they being asked to tackle people and take them to jail for selling cigarettes. This should be no more than a minor offense and should be dealt with a simple citation. Nobody should die for the offense of selling loose cigarettes on the street and nobody should be put in the position of overreacting public or police. In the tragic case in New York both the victim and the police overreacted because we all insisted on a "silly-shit" enforcement of a Nanny state law. ___________________________________________ I guess I am no particular friend of the CIA... but just to prove what an evil bunch Americans are once and for all, certain retiring and defeated Democrats decide to trash us all on the way out and in the process trash the institution they were members of... I guess that will show us, huh? I hope too many people won't die as a result of this willful action. I'm not sure as what I think of enhanced interrogation...probably not much and I am satisfied that we no longer engage in it. I do know what I think of drones and I do know what I think of "rats". ______________________________________________________________ Another Bush ? It is not that I particularly dislike the Bushes... if this is a proper plural usage of the Bush name, But why do Americans seem to be in love with political dynasties. Why do we continually seek to elect rich young and privileged men who seem born to inflict public service upon us?
