I sit here waiting...

...for all the promised Global Warming I was told would come. I have been waiting now...oh, fifteen plus years. Here we are though sitting in this cold. In My case I guess it's just age that chills Me to the very marrow of My old bones. It gets just a little harder to go out and about into the cold.
I had hopes that I might be running around on My scooter, at least on dry pavement, girded in warm clothing. Alas, it looks like one of those years where the vestige of the very first snow will still be compressed into a very thin layer in My driveway at the spring thaw.
I have one very competent four wheel drive Toyota that manages to get through "whatever", and I am tempted to just jump in that vehicle every time I do screw up the courage to go out into our cold, cold World. I have noticed that folks (now that FWD, 4WD and AWD seems to be dirt common in family chariots) seem to lose their driving skills if they rely too much on artificial traction. Braking seems to be the main failing as the folk tend to get over confident when their vehicle can gain momentum no matter what. I guess that is why there about twice the number of body shops in Iowa City as in other towns of it's size.
Anyway, I am trying to screw up My courage to go and start the two wheel drive sedan and bless Iowa City with My chilled fine self, thus preserving My snow and ice driving skill in a year with no dry pavement and continuous snow and ice seems to be the norm.
I am still waiting for the promised global warming and am still hopeful for a January thaw.
I know the politicians will still manage to pick our pockets, in a futile effort to stop climate change...a thing that climate does.
